Ministry of the Interior Declares Friday 20th March & Saturday, 21st March, 2026 Statutory Public Holidays

The Ministry of the Interior has declared Friday, 20th March and Saturday, 21st March, 2026 as public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-UI-Fitr and Shaqq days.

This was contained in a Press Statement issued and signed by the Minister for the Interior, Honorable Muntaka Mohammed – Mubarak (MP).

The statement further explained that in view of the fact that 21st March 2026 falls on a Saturday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana has by the Executive Instrument (EI) in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601) as amended declared Monday, 23rd March, 2026 as an additional public holiday.

According to the statement, the two days should be observed as such throughout the country.
