The Chiefs and People of Dormaa Traditional Area, led by the Paramount Chief, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II has launched, the 2024 Kwafie Festival at the Abanpredease Palace in Dormaa Ahenkro.

The launch which paved way for the fourth celebration of the festival since the enstoolment of the Dormaamanhene who also doubles as the President of the Bono House of Chiefs and the Hemaa, Odeneho, Akosua Fima Dwabeng also coincided with the 25^th anniversary of the enstoolment of the Paramount Chief.

The ceremony was characterized with royal splendor and rich cultural displays of songs, dances and other traditional practices. It was also used to outdoor the anniversary cloth, paraphernalia, the theme for the anniversary and activities earmarked for the celebration.

The occasion gave citizens and corporate bodies the opportunity to donate in support of the programme slated to commence on the 9^th December, 2024.

Present at the ceremony was the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellence Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs who is also the Drobomanhene, Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II among many other distinguished dignitaries and well-wishers.

The Kwafie Festival is celebrated by the people of Dormaa to usher them into a special season of cleaning, purification and putting their houses and environment in order or better still ensuring good sanitation practices. As the name implies, ‘Kwa-fie’ literally meaning, “to dress or to paint house” in the Twi language.

It is expected that during the festivities, individuals and families owning properties along the main roads and lanes of towns, would re-paint their buildings and weed around to beautify the surroundings.

In his short remarks to explain the purpose of the gathering, the Ankobeahene of Dormaa, Barima Dei Kusi Gyabaa II commended the first born of Aduana, Osagyefo Agyemang Badu II for his courageous and visionary leadership, describing him as goal oriented and resolute.

He mentioned significant developments and successes that Osagyefo has achieved in education, health, sanitation, sports, infrastructure among others over the years. He reiterated that giving to support such a visionary leader is worth investing. Barima Gyabaa added that the event which is expected to be climaxed on the 21^st December, 2024 would go a long way to aid in mending ways to improve the lots of the people of Dormaa.

Osagyefo who was dumbfounded at the grand turnout of the launch expressed his profound appreciation to all well-wishers and dignitaries who graced the occasion to make it a success.

He used the opportunity to give a brief background of the Dormaa throne and as the 4th to ascend to the highest seat on the Dormaaland, he expressed his gratitude to his ancestors for the successes achieved and still seeing him through.
