The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has cautioned persons interested in joining the army to do so through the certified channels used in announcing enlistment exercises.
The caution by the GAF comes on the back of what it refers to as a fraudulent internet link advertising 2023/2024 recruitment.
In a statement, the GAF noted that it is not recruiting for the Forces currently.
“GAF wishes also to state that it is not conducting any enlistment or recruitment at this material time, and has not advertised such for the year 2023/2024.
“The public and persons interested in joining GAF should stick to the certified and official channels that GAF uses in announcing recruitments and enlistment exercises; that is the national dailies. (Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times),” the GAF said.
It further disclosed that it does not advertise on social media.
“GAF, once again, reiterates that it does not advertise on social media and does not engage middlemen in such exercise.
“Therefore, the public should take heed of the education and numerous reminders to desist from paying monies through ‘mobile money’ to unscrupulous persons who claim to be recruitment agents of GAF,” it warned.
It also revealed that the fraudulent activities of such persons are being tracked.
“GAF further states that, in conjunction with other Security Services, such unscrupulous persons engaged in the fraudulent act are continuously being tracked down and those arrested will be dealt with severely according to the law,” it indicated.
It stressed that the GAF “is not conducting any 2023/2024 recruitment/enlistment exercise at this material time.”
It therefore advised the public to “take note and report any advertisement and persons soliciting monies for such exercises, to the nearest Military Installation or Police Station.”
