The Chairperson of Passion For Needy (NGO) Mrs. Janet Torgbor El – Aschkar has called on the youth to tap into the wisdom and knowledge of the elderly in society to empower them for the future.

According to her, the application of these will help the youth to be effective and efficient in whatever engagement they may find themselves.

She made this call during the 2022 Founder’s Day Donation of the NGO at the HelpAged Ghana Centre at Osu in Accra. The programme which was funded by Passion For Needy was done in collaboration with HelpAged Ghana (NGO).

Mrs. Aschkar recounted their organisation’s friendship with HelpAged Ghana which began on September, 2010 when they provided their maiden support to selected elderly but needy persons in our society. “This is how the journey began and has developed over the years which results you are seeing today”, she added.

She said that Management took the decision to come over once again to address some of the issues in these challenging times. She mentioned that since its inception in 2009, the NGO has provided support to various government institutions which included the Accra Rehabilitation Centre, La Boys and Girls Correctional Centre, Osu Childrens Home and has always supported government effort in alleviating poverty in the country.

Apart from these support, the Chairperson also revealed that the NGO has also supported privately owned charitable organisations including the Teshie and Nungua Childrens Homes, Christ Faith Forster Home, The Street Academy, YOA Foundation, Islamic Research Institute, and Human Compassion Organisation for their efforts in addressing some of these challenges facing society. 

Mrs. Janet Torgbor El – Aschkar said that as government has rolled – out measures within this period to address these challenges, the NGO once again find it necessary to also contribute its little substance to achieve the desire result.

Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ms. Ethel Boakye, the Administrator and Media Coordinator of HelpAged Ghana thanked Passion For Needy for the kind gesture. She urged other individuals and organisations to emulate the example.

The NGO donated bags of rice, cooking oil, canned fish, canned tomato paste, bottled water, and soft drinks as well as a special package for seven elderly people who have attained the ages from 85 to 105.

The Passion For Needy Founder’s Day Donation is an annual event that is done to acknowledge the contribution made by the Founder, Prophet T.B. Joshua (Senior Prophet of the Synagogue Church of All Nations) to this organization and to celebrate his birthday which falls on the 12 th of June.
