
The Bono Regional Minister, Lawyer Joseph Addae Akwaboah, has implored kingmakers of the Bono Region to adhere to established traditional protocols for the installation of chiefs in order to mitigate chieftaincy disputes and interruptions that threaten peace, security and development of the region.
Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people at the Wamfie Presby School Park during his working visit to the Dormaa East District, the Minister commended the chiefs for fostering harmonious relations and maintaining peace within their jurisdictions. He urged them to extend their invaluable contributions to the overarching tranquility of the region, which is essential for socioeconomic advancement and infrastructural development.
This visit which marks his first formal engagement after his appointment is aimed at assessing developmental progress and engaging key stakeholders, as well as community members in discussions to enhance the District’s status and address pressing concerns.
As a native of Wamfie; the District’s capital, Lawyer Addae Akwaboah took the opportunity to express his discomfort regarding the District’s growing reputation for high incidences of HIV/AIDS and teenage pregnancies among the youth.
He therefore called upon the younger generation to prioritize education and personal development as a foundation for a better life. He urged stakeholders involved in child upbringing and development to instill a culture of self-discipline and exemplary mentorship for proper guidance.
The Minister extended his gratitude to Nananon and people of the Dormaa East District for the resounding electoral victory they bestowed upon the NDC party in the 2024 general elections. He commended the Member of Parliament and District Chief Executive for their commendable efforts towards development within such a short time.
The Regional Minister later enumerated the policies and initiatives being implemented by the President Mahama administration which is aimed at revitalizing and transforming the economy of the Districts and the nation at large. He called on the citizens to rally behind the government for sustained development.
In his welcome remarks, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Osei Owusu King, expressed his gratitude to the Regional Minister for his unwavering commitment to providing the District with Bono administrative and legal consultations over the years. He highlighted various infrastructural developments that have already been realized and those currently underway, assuring the chiefs and the populace of their steadfast commitment to serve diligently.
The Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Hon. Rachael Owusuaa, also conveyed her gratitude to the people for her election to the House of Parliament. She pledged to devote her utmost efforts to the progress of the Constituency and reiterated the need to construct a hospital, two-storey classroom block for the Kyeremasu Islamic Senior High School, CHPS Compound and boreholes, among many others for the constituency.
