President John Dramani Mahama says government is working towards ending the Double Track system in senior high schools by 2027 through major investments in educational infrastructure across the country.
According to the President, government has secured a 300-million-dollar facility from the World Bank to support the upgrading of 50 senior high schools nationwide.
Speaking during the commissioning of a PET Scan facility at the Swedish Ghana Medical Centre, President Mahama explained that the investment forms part of broader efforts to improve conditions in the education sector and expand access to quality secondary education.
He further announced that new E-Block classroom facilities will be constructed in urban and peri-urban communities under the initiative to help increase school capacity and gradually eliminate the Double Track system.
On healthcare infrastructure, the President disclosed that procurement processes have already been completed for the construction of three regional hospitals in the newly created regions this year.
He added that the remaining three regional hospitals are expected to be completed before the end of 2028 as government continues efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery nationwide.
