
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has disclosed that government has not granted any permit, license, and / or lease to any company to exploit, mine, and/or produce Lithium in Ghana.
According to the Ministry, various exploitations for the mineral are ongoing and a policy proposal for the regulation, exploitation and management of Ghana’s green minerals which included Lithium has been submitted to Cabinet for scrutiny.
A Press Statement signed and issued by the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry stated that the overarching goal of the policy is to ensure that the exploitation of these critical minerals inure to the benefit of the people of Ghana.
The statement further explained that when the policy is approve, it will form the basis of all agreements, permit, license, and leases for the exploitation and utilization of Ghana’s green minerals.
“The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources wishes to assure the general public that it remains committed to the efficient, effective and sustainable exploitation and management of the natural resources of the country, in the spirit of transparency, anchored on integrity and utmost good faith, for the benefit of the people of Ghana.” the statement added.
