The Comprehensive Food Security and Vulnerability Analysis (CFSVA) report findings was on 14th December, 2021 launched at the Ghana National Association of Teachers’ (GNAT) Hall in Accra.

The event was hosted by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP), Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Dr. Peter Takyi Peprah, the Project Coordinator who presented the report findings on behalf of the Committee indicated that the effect of the rise in food insecurity has been experienced in 12% of Ghanaian households as captured in the report. He explained that the entire report sought to address the issue of food insecurity and the impact it has had on the citizens and country as a whole.

He reiterated that the findings were tools to assist in the rigorous analysis of data needed for policy making and growth in the country as well as to enable the right mapping for allocation of resources needed to curb the situation of food insecurity and in the long term, severe hunger.

He mentioned the critical measures taken into consideration in compiling the findings with the inclusion of stakeholders nationwide.

On the way forward, Dr. Peprah stated that the zonal dissemination programmes for Regional and District Directors of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) and the Ghana Health Service (Nutrition Unit) was a step in the right direction to prevent food insecurity and other related problems.
