
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Dormaa East, Honourable Osei Owusu King paid a courtesy call on the Mansen Divisional Chiefs of Wamfie.
The visit which was done in the company of the District Assembly’s Management Staff was to formally introduce the new DCE to the traditional authority and engage in other conversations essential to the effective governance and development of the District as well as seek the blessings of the traditional authority for him.
In his submission which was complemented by the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Maxwell Mark Mensah, the DCE seized the opportunity to outline government’s developmental initiative in the interim and the need for the traditional council’s assistance.
They both spoke of government’s intention to build a model market to begin the 24-hour economy initiative at the District level and appealed for land for the project.
They also sort for the backing of the traditional authority to address some major challenges facing the District’s development as well as their concerns, guidance and feedback in the successful implementation of other developmental plans and programmes.
In a welcome remarks, the Mansen Mawrehene who doubles as the Nseseresuhene, Nana Kumtwie Asamaoh; on behalf of the Mansen Division, congratulated the DCE on his appointment and reiterated Nananom’s willingness to collaborate with him and the Assembly anytime necessary for effective leadership and the socio economic development of the District.
The Obaahemaa of the Mansen Traditional Division, Nana Ama Pomaa Tutuwaa expressed her gratitude to the government for the 24-hour economy market project. She said that they will make available the Wamfie Friday Market and other lands around the market including her personal plots that were meant for durbar grounds and other projects for the imitative. She expressed willingness to support the development of her people and the District.
The Queen Mother of the Wamfie Daily Market, Madam Esther Ansu, expressed her appreciation for the yet to be build 24-hour economy model market and their willingness to patronize it. She appealed for the maintenance of what is currently in use even as they anticipate the building of the new market.
Present also at the meeting were representatives of market women, Assembly members, Assembly Staff and Nananom.
