The Dormaa East District Assembly in collaboration with Nananom, Schools and the Forestry Commission has carried out the Government’s Tree for Life Restoration Initiative at the Nseseresu Eco Tourism Center.
In all, seven hundred (700) royal palm and umbrella tree seedlings were planted beside other already existing ornamental plants on the 35 acres Eco Tourism Center.
It is expected that the success of this exercise at the District’s Eco Tourism Center would among other things improve the beautification of the area, enhance tourist experience, and offer shelter and sustenance to diverse species.
In a brief, the team leader from the Forestry Commission, Mr. Richard Attepara as well as the District Chief Executive, Honourable Osei Owusu King among other dignitaries explained the importance of trees to human lives and reasons why trees and the environment needs to be protected. They all cautioned against small scale mining (galamsey), illegal lumbering and other ill practices destroying the environment.
