The Obokese Foundation, organisers of the Ghana Chieftaincy Awards (GCA), has announced an official partnership with the Black Star Experience for the 2025 edition of the awards.
Set to take place from October 3 to 5 in Kumasi and Cape Coast, the Ghana Chieftaincy Awards 2025 is a national platform dedicated to honouring the achievements and cultural contributions of Ghana’s traditional leaders.
The event aims to spotlight the vital roles of chiefs, queen mothers and traditional councils in community development, leadership, and cultural preservation.
Now in its third year, GCA 2025 will feature a packed three-day schedule. Day One will focus on the Royal Investment Summit in Kumasi, where traditional leaders and investors will discuss sustainable development, regional economic opportunities, and sector-specific initiatives in agriculture, tourism, and more.
Day Two will offer cultural immersion experiences, including a visit to the Manhyia Palace and the official awards ceremony recognising outstanding chiefs and queen mothers across various sectors such as education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and peacebuilding.
The final day, October 5, will shift to Cape Coast for a traditional naming ceremony at Obokese Plaza, offering members of the African Diaspora a chance to reconnect with their heritage. A state dinner hosted by Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII will conclude the event.
The newly announced partnership with the Black Star Experience is expected to enhance the cultural scope and global appeal of the awards. The Black Star Experience is Ghana’s flagship cultural and creative arts initiative, designed to showcase the nation’s identity through seven pillars: cinema, audio, cuisine, aesthetics, style, literature, and heritage.
Speaking to Graphic Showbiz, the founder of the Obokese Foundation, Nana Obokese Ampah I, said the partnership aims to strengthen efforts to preserve Ghana’s cultural heritage.
“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to elevating Ghana’s traditional institutions and promoting the essence of our identity through storytelling, creativity, and heritage,” he said.
Nominations for GCA 2025 will open from June 25 to September 3, 2025, and are open to all recognised chiefs, queen mothers and traditional councils in Ghana.
The awards, supported by the National House of Chiefs, will feature several categories, including the prestigious Overall Most Outstanding Chief in Ghana, and recognitions in areas such as education, governance, gender equality, youth development, and cultural preservation.
Organisers believe the event will not only highlight the work of traditional leaders but also serve as a catalyst for investment, tourism, and a deeper appreciation of Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
